There are three things to consider before buying CBD oil for your dog. Here's what you need to know.

Choose CBD without THC

CBD is found in marijuana and hemp. CBD in marijuana contains more than 0.2 percent THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid that gives you a "high", while marijuana's CBD is within the legal limits, e.g. 0.2 percent.

While there is evidence that marijuana cannot make CBD "high", it still has this low level of THC. Any amount of THC is toxic to dogs and should be avoided. This can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and many other side effects. Look for CBD oil for dogs that are THC-free.

Choose broad-spectrum CBD

CBD isolation and broad-spectrum products are the best for our furry friends. Broad-spectrum CBD oil is the most beneficial for dogs because it doesn't just contain CBD; there are also plenty of natural terpenes and cannabinoids.

Never use hemp oil

Many manufacturers refer to their CBD products as "flax oil" and describe it as beneficial for health. Hemp oil contains little or no CBD and is not therapeutic for dogs.

If the product is labeled "flaxseed oil" then it is perfectly acceptable to give it to your pup with added CBD. Always check the COA to determine the amount of CBD in the product.
